So… ::: shuffles feet awkwardly ::: I was selected as one of BlogHer‘s Voices of the Year (VOTY) in the “humor” category for my post Companion Possum. Check it out! Apparently it’s funny. And I have to say thank God it appealed to others for its comic value because, given the subject matter, I really hoped it wouldn’t fall under “inspiration.”
Cindy only knows I exist at all because of the blogging community yeah write curated by yet another VOTY winner Erica Mullenix. Erica is both straight up with the genuine tough love and great at running blogging communities because great bloggers like Christie, Bill, Erin and Ellen, Ginny Marie, Tara, Rarasaur, and Arnebya have all crossed her community’s path and been recognized for quality writing. (And there are others that I’m forgetting too. Because the universe guarantees the former sentence is true any time you set out to write a sentence like the latter.)
Basically I stumbled into something where cool people write cool things and are awesome about feedback. Which is my good luck. This is why cool people like Stephanie and Christie are showing me this insane picture of my VOTY post blown up into poster size. Which means somewhere someone had to make a poster that said PLEASE GOD DON’T LET IT GO FOR MY EYES and it was my fault.
Anyway… here’s why I’m writing this: the VOTY posts are good. Like *really* good. Though arguably the ones about possums may just have gotten lucky. If you’re interested in finding blogs worth reading and social media feeds worth following you should check them out.
I promise none of them will go for the eyes.
