November 30 is the last day of NaBloPoMo. I feel like I should write a summation of that experience and what it has taught me. And I will reflect on that further, I hope, in the near future. But today? No.
Today was one of those days. You motivate yourself through a run in the cold November rain by dreaming of the long, hot shower you’re going to take when you get home only to arrive home and find that the hot water heater is broken. The cat throws up on your Kindle. Your kid tells you she’s eating breakfast but really she’s ‘checking if washable crayons are really washable’ on your newly upholstered white chair. (Spoiler Alert: No. No they are not.)
Nothing’s really wrong but by the time five o’clock rolls around you’re sitting at a stop light mentally screaming, “FUCK YOU, OBVIOUSLY TO BE EXPECTED AND TO BE HONEST RATHER LIGHT FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC!” But then you feel bad for getting worked up over stuff like this because war and famine are things so you try to put yourself in a better frame of mind by, say, watching 17 episodes of The Colbert Report.
So I will just leave today by thanking my fellow NaBloPoMo-ers. I really appreciated reading so many blogs this month and especially appreciate everyone who took the time to read and comment on my posts. Comments really mean a lot even though I suck at replying to them.
Now. I’m off to soothe my cranky soul with a
hot showerpolar bear plunge, bottle of wine, and overflowing Hulu queue.
