|Kids are cute. And awesome.
And not at all like a trip to Paris.
A newly married friend and I recently chatted about her decision making process regarding whether she and her husband were ready for kids. Since she’s probably the most together person I know, she had a list of tasks that she felt they needed to complete to prove they could handle taking the plunge. Her list included things like “own and maintain a home,” “drive cross country,” “train for a half marathon together,” “visit Paris,” and “attend a relationship building retreat to talk about parenting goals and core values.”
Her list is great, she’s great, and someday she’ll make a great parent if she ends up deciding to have kids. That being said, here’s an alternate, more realistic set of ten parenting test run activities:
